Learning Support Officer - Junior School

The position

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Learning Support Officer to work with our teachers in assisting students that have a variety of individual learning needs. Support will focus on students in our Junior School, Rathfarnham. This role is offered as a full time, fixed term position for the 2024 school year commencing Term 2 2024. 

Responsibilities of the role will include:

• Work in partnership with classroom teachers, Learning Diversity teachers and the Learning Diversity Leader to implement adjustments to learning materials and the environment, as outlined in student Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Provide support for a student’s academic learning, behaviour program, physical care, or social progress throughout the entirety of a school day, including class, lunch and recess times.
• Maintain a positive and stimulating learning environment by adopting a variety of styles, practices and approaches to cater for individual learning needs.
• Adopt intervention practices that foster learning and reflect contemporary theory and research concerning student learning and educational pedagogy.
• Other responsibilities as outlined in the position description.

About You

To be successful in this position, it is essential that you have:

• Certificate III or IV in Education Support
• Relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded
• Experience working as an Integration Aide/Learning Support Officer in a primary school setting
• A collaborative approach with colleagues and proven experience in establishing and fostering relationships with students, staff and parents
• A current Working with Children Check (employee)
