  • Open to Australian Aboriginal Peoples only - Full-time, continuing position
  • Based in UniSA Allied Health & Human Performance at the City East campus
  • Commencement Salary: $96,929 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

As the Lecturer in Aboriginal Health, you will be responsible for contributing to the teaching, scholarship, research and professional activities of the Allied Health & Human Performance academic unit. 

You will focus primarily on Aboriginal Health curriculum development and pedagogies, as well as the provision of advice on these areas in relation to the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs.

About UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance 

UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Apply research and scholarship to the development of courses, including investigating and developing alternative teaching methods and the initiation and development of new material
  • Maintain and strive to improve the quality of courses as measured with a variety of evaluation instruments
  • Conduct research and scholarly activity (independently or as a member of a team) which will result in publications in refereed journals and in presenting conference papers at seminars
  • Create, foster and enhance local, national and international links with relevant professional, university and community bodies that assist in the advancement of University and Academic Unit objectives

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the learning of Aboriginal tertiary students from diverse backgrounds and a detailed knowledge of and familiarity with Aboriginal communities
  • A bachelor degree in a Health-related field and relevant industry/discipline experience in Aboriginal culture/health/research
  • Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources
  • High level written and oral communication skills and the capability to use the necessary digital techniques required for effective curriculum delivery
  • The ability to enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit through collaborative research
