What is your new role about?
The main responsibility of this role is to provide in-house legal support to Horizon Power and managing the provision of external legal support to the business.
Your new role will include:
• Effectively manage external legal spend.
• Provide value for money legal support to meet Horizon Power’s requirements.
• Drafting and negotiating contracts with commercial and project teams in the business.
• Provide legal advice to the business including Executive General Managers and Level 3 Managers.
• Manage legal disputes on behalf of Horizon Power.
• Manage relationships with external panel firms to facilitate the delivery of value for money, commercial advice in the required timeframes.
• Advise on legislative changes and trends to assess impact on Horizon Power and manage response to key areas of risk.
Our new Legal Counsel will have:
• Preferably five years post-admission (Associate level) experience in providing legal advice, negotiating/drafting contracts and preparing commercial documentation relating to one or more of the following areas: electricity and/or energy, commercial contracts, construction law, intellectual property matters, compliance and policy, property and land tenure and/or insurance.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and without supervision.
• A proven ability to reconcile legal and commercial/practical issues in a business context.
• Some exposure to litigation and dispute resolution matters.
• Strong legal research skills.
• Experience working effectively in a team.
• Strong writing skills (including in respect of preparing advice and drafting contracts).
