Access theAbout UsThe Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland is an independent statutory body established under the Professional Engineers Act 2002 Qld (PE Act) and administers the PE Act on behalf of Queensland Government.Our core function is to provide for the registration of individuals as Registered Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ). Registration helps safeguard the public and distinguishes qualified, competent and experienced professional engineers.About the Role
- assess complaints and notifications regarding alleged unsatisfactory professional conduct by RPEQs and offences against the Act and provide advice regarding whether to conduct a statutory investigation.
- prepare timely advice, correspondence and briefing notes, and other legal process documents and act impartially in the provision of advice.
- maintain regular communication with the Principal Legal Officer (PLO) on the progress of open files and escalate any procedural or legal risks to ensure the timely and successful management of cases.
- maintain case management records and provide updates to assist the PLO to provide briefings to the Registrar, Board, Department and Minister regarding complaints and investigations.
- deliver advocacy and legal case management services for less complex disciplinary and prosecutorial actions undertaken before the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Magistrates Courts.
- must have been admitted or be eligible for immediate admittance as a legal practitioner by the Supreme Court of Queensland.
- demonstrated experience in the analysis and conduct of complex matters related to allegations of professional misconduct and non-compliance/prosecutorial action (or experience with similar matters such as professional negligence, building or construction matters).
- Demonstrate the ability to establish priorities, be a motivated, energetic and proactive individual able to work autonomously or with light supervision, work as part of a dynamic team, and meet deadlines.
