Are you ready to embark on a rewarding journey? We're excited to offer an incredible opportunity for a Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant to join our Aged Care team at Cooinda.

As a Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant at Cooinda Lodge, you'll play a pivotal role as a key support person to our Lifestyle Coordinator. Your main focus will be delivering engaging programs, both group and individual, to our residents in the aged care home. These programs are designed to maintain independence, support reablement, and enhance the quality of life through a wide range of activities - from therapeutic and social to emotional, cultural, spiritual, and physical.

In this role, you'll be an integral part of providing resident-centred, holistic care, working under the supervision of our Registered Nurses. Your duties will be aligned with your level of competence and formal educational preparation.

As you work closely with our nursing team and other specialists, your assessment and problem-solving skills will come into play for the ongoing care of our residents. Adaptability and the ability to prioritise resident care are key attributes in our ever-evolving environment. We value creative thinking and sound communication skills to make a real difference in the lives of our residents.

We have a permanent part time position of up to 36 hours per fortnight available and also a long service leave cover position of up to 67 hours per fortnight. There are opportunities to fill additional shifts as they become available or to work across our other Aged Care facility on a casual basis. Requirements:

Mandatory:

• Experience in developing, planning, and leading group programs.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) principles.
• Certificate III in Lifestyle and Leisure or a similar recognised certificate/training.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in an Aged Care residential facility.
• Experience working with individuals with dementia or challenging behaviours.
• Background in working with volunteers.

IMPORTANT: We prioritise the health and safety of our healthcare team. Therefore, all front-line healthcare workers are required to have three doses of COVID vaccination and the 2023 influenza vaccination (unless a valid exemption applies). Proof of vaccination (or exemption) will be necessary before your start date.
