At the brand new 86 bed, Our Lady Mercy Place Harris Park, Mercy Health will bring its healthy ageing approach to the local community, delivering on a long-held vision by the local Maronite Catholic community to deliver better living for people as they age.
As a Lifestyle Assistant, you will facilitate the process of empowerment and enable the residents to make choices and decisions which maximise their participation in leisure activities and experiences that suits our Residents’ individual needs and maintains their dignity.
Supporting the Lifestyle Coordinator, you will assist in developing and delivering a range of events and activities according to the interests of residents, which build a sense of community. You will coordinate logistics of events and activities both on and off site, as well as liaise with volunteers and visiting specialists. You will be energetic and approachable, encouraging residents to get involved but respecting when they feel like resting. You will be a well-known face to residents and carers who will work with you to provide regular and one-off activities according to the interests of residents.
To be successful in this role, you have a natural ability to form meaningful relationships and a genuine passion for community. You are a positive, proactive and highly organised individual with excellent communication skills. You may have experience in a customer service or hospitality role, in coordinating volunteers or in community development and creative fields.
- Certificate IV Lifestyle & Leisure
- Clear understanding of the lifestyle role
- Prior experience working in aged care in a smiliar role
- Excellent communication skills & relationship building skills
