As a member of our Content team, this role collaborates closely with the Assessment Delivery Lead, fellow content writers and our in-house publishing team to create exceptional online and paper-based Literacy materials tailored to Australian curriculums (ACV9, New NSW Syllabus, VC, and VC 2.0). Your deep subject expertise, enthusiasm for Literacy education and sharp analytical skills are essential as we strive to enhance and perfect a top-tier Literacy Assessment product for Australian schools.We invite applicants from all over Australia to apply for this 6-month fixed-term contract position. The role offers flexibility and can be either part-time or full-time (4-5 days per week). There is also potential for this position to become permanent or for the contract to be extended.What you will do

  • Write, edit, and amend Primary Literacy content for Essential Assessment’s learning and assessment products, ensuring adherence to our content quality standards and collaboration with the strategic delivery manager
  • Participate constructively in editorial processes, including pre- and post-production feedback cycles and peer reviews, to continuously elevate our standards
  • Review and map the Australian Curriculum, NSW Syllabus, and Victorian Curriculum documents against Essential Assessment Literacy content to ensure robust alignment and identify opportunities for development
  • Evaluate existing Essential Assessment Literacy online and paper-based resources, proposing necessary changes to continuously improve our Literacy product offerings
  • Actively contribute ideas and feedback to shape the ongoing development of Essential Assessment’s Literacy products
About you
  • Primary Literacy/English teaching experience in Australia
  • Tertiary qualification in Education and/or Teaching
  • Experience in English assessment writing (digital and/or paper-based) with a solid foundation in item-writing methodology
  • Creative writing skills and experience, capable of generating original and engaging content across various text types
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to accurately map, interpret, and deconstruct the progressive sequence of English curriculum points
  • Understanding of, and genuine interest in, Literacy pedagogy and best practices in Literacy teaching
  • Openness to receiving and applying feedback from others
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong time management and communication skills
