Location: Adelaide
Temporary appointment
$106,512 to $115,137 pa (ASO7)
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) is responsible for delivering and supporting the central geospatial services, Location SA, which DIT and a wide range of other government departments and local entities utilise for mapping related data and geospatial services right across South Australia.
The scope of this service includes sharing of 600 geospatial datasets, and GIS focused applications delivered via cloud infrastructure. Applications supported by Location SA supply the public with access to authoritative information, including critically important services used to support provision of emergency services.
This role is central to delivery of Location SA services, and is responsible for engaging with Location SA stakeholders across government departments and local entities to ensure that services being delivered by the Location SA team are meeting their expectations.
This senior role sits within a dedicated DIT GIS Technical team, supported by the larger DIT Information Services team, and benefits from assistance and collaboration from agencies that utilise Location SA services, providing the key link between technical teams and end users. Whilst this is not a hands on technical role, an appreciation and experience of working with complex IT systems is desirable.
To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate highly developed communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement capabilities, combined with experience working within IT, especially in gathering business requirements, developing project proposals, engaging with technology vendors, championing IT Services, and coordinating steering committee meetings.
This is a multi-faceted role that combines elements of Business Partner / Business Analyst / Systems Analyst roles, and previous experience in such roles would be advantageous.
Previous experience with geospatial technologies (especially ESRI ArcGIS) will also be well regarded.
In return, you will enjoy working in a dynamic and collegial environment that offers you support to further develop your diverse capabilities, and the opportunity to acquire valuable experience in coordinating delivery of genuinely important services across a wide range of government and non-government clients.
Duties
This vital role provides the coordination, administration, and day-to-day management of LocationSA service delivery for the SA government and external stakeholders.
Key tasks include liaising with and assisting clients, gathering requirements, vendor management, preparation of various reports, coordination of LocationSA Committees, and assisting with the prioritisation and coordination of tasks delivered by technical teams that support LocationSA systems.
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications and relevant working experience within Geospatial Information Services, Data Science or Information Technology are highly desirable.
Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant working experience in Management and Project Management will also be well regarded.
Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check prior to employment with the Department that is required to be renewed every three years.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to 12 months with an option of extension or conversion to be considered.
