Location Profile

McKinnon Primary School - Inquire. Think. Learn.

¿McKinnon Primary School is committed to developing internationally minded learners in a safe and nurturing environment, where students are empowered to develop 21st century skills and attitudes.¿

McKinnon Primary is located in the South Eastern Region. Our fundamental purpose is to provide a dynamic learning climate that engages students to achieve their personal best in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation towards society and the environment. At McKinnon Primary School our focus is on the development of the whole child which includes academic, physical, emotional, social, intercultural and creative growth. We challenge our students to achieve their potential with supportive staff and parents whose enthusiastic effort continue to ensure the provision of the best possible outcomes and learning environment for all.

The curriculum framework at McKinnon Primary School reflects the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum and the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.

Students in the 21st century are faced with the challenge of learning about an interconnected world where knowledge is constantly evolving. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme prepares students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning through the exploration of six transdisciplinary themes which are about issues that have meaning for, and are important to all of us.

Our school grounds are located on two sites, separated by Tucker Road, which include: the main two-storey historic building housing classrooms, administration, the staffroom and first aid; the Learning Centre & classroom pods; a canteen facility; bike shed and gymnasium and a total of 20 portable classrooms across the two sites and are surrounded by playground spaces, stimulating play equipment and a synthetic turf oval. The Tucker Road Oval has recently been redeveloped providing a first class all-weather amenity for the school and surrounding community.

Once known as Ormond East Primary when it opened in 1930, McKinnon Primary School has grown to become a leading school in the South East region of Melbourne and strives for excellence through genuine partnership and openness between staff and the school community by providing a safe, happy, friendly and challenging environment, ideal for learning.

We are looking for a highly motivated staff member with a capacity for further professional and personal growth.
