Management Accountant
Council is seeking to appoint a maximum term full time Management Accountant to contribute to Council’s success.
This position is a maximum term opportunity for parental leave coverage with a projected end date of November 2024.

About the Role
The purpose of this position is to develop an in depth understanding of the long-term strategic goals to achieve business objectives by providing high-quality analytical support, reporting, planning and the facilitation of process improvement. The position delivers efficient and effective accounting analysis with respect to Council’s costs, budget analysis and variations and works collaboratively across the business to increase understanding of costs and associated drivers to aid improved decision making throughout the business and further incorporation of those drivers into the Long-Term Financial Plan and Annual Budget.
Your role will include:
- Acting as primary finance liaison for a select group of service delivery managers
- Working closely with teams to understand their business and assist them in completing their 2024-25 quarter 1 forecast
- Assisting with the planning and commencement of the 2025-26 budget process
- Collaborating with other areas of the finance team to uncover efficiencies and ensure excellent service for our internal customers
- Being present, pro-active and solutions-focused and recognise that the community is the core of our business
You will bring:
- Degree qualifications in accounting/business/finance or appropriate discipline
- Previous experience in contributing to budget and forecast preparation within a large, diverse organisation.
- Demonstrated high level negotiation and interpersonal skills and proven success cooperating with customers and stakeholders in delivering customer service.
- High level of experience and autonomy in problem definition, planning, analytics and prioritisation in order to achieve concurrent deadlines.
- Experience in the application of legislation, regulations, and Australian Accounting Standards.
- Strong problem solving, technological and analytical skills to perform the responsibilities of the position.
