Are you an experienced Management Accountant with a passion for financial analysis and budgeting? We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Local Government client on a short-term contract basis. As a Management Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting our finance department and contributing to the financial success of our local council.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of budgets, including collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to gather necessary data and insights.
- Contribute to the strategic budget process by providing recommendations and insights to optimize financial resources and ensure effective allocation of funds.
- Monitor capitalisation activities, ensuring accurate recording of expenses and proper capitalization of assets.
- Analyse and report on cost, value, and revenue (CVR) movements, providing insights to senior management for decision-making purposes.
- Participate in financial systems projects, including implementation, upgrades, and process improvements, ensuring seamless integration and adherence to best practices.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify areas for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and process efficiencies.
- Prepare financial reports, statements, and forecasts, presenting them to relevant stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain robust financial controls and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in budgeting, strategic budget processes, capitalisation, CVR movements, and financial systems projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in financial analysis tools and software, as well as MS Excel and other relevant applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also being a team player.
- Previous experience in a local council or government organization will be highly regarded.
Duration: This is a contract position, running through till 28th June 2024 with possible extension.
