The role
Leading and managing a small, high performing team, the Manager, Corporate and Governance will continually improve corporate service delivery across Records, Facilities, HR, Administration, IT and Governance and ensure operations are conducted efficiently and effectively in an environment of competing demands and objectives. This role will contribute to best practice, contemporary resource management decisions within FSQ and provide strategic and operational leadership and direction regarding governance, risk, policy and planning.
You will:
- Collaborate to identify and assess opportunities for system improvements and alternative delivery models
- Ensure the provision of strong service delivery to FSQ business areas, particularly with regards to records, governance, and administration
- Effectively consult and liaise with FSQ staff, service managers, stakeholders and customers to clarify business requirements and make recommendations on opportunities for improvement, system redesign and investment.
- Provide strategic advice to the senior managers within FSQ on management strategies, systems, processes, policies and procedures to enable FSQ to meet its strategic and operational priorities.
- Lead and motivate a small, high performing team
- Drive continuous improvement, risk management, compliance and optimisation of service delivery.
The successful person
- High level ability to provide effective and authoritative specialist advice and recommendations in relation to business management and service delivery issues
- Demonstrated corporate services management and leadership skills to enable the development and successful implementation of HR, and Governance initiatives to support the delivery of FSQ services.
- Proven advanced knowledge and experience in managing the delivery of corporate service functions, including HR, administration and record-keeping
- Highly-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and ability to negotiate, advise, influence, educate and work collaboratively
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen, with success implementing remedial strategies and exercising initiative and responsibility to realise enhanced business and workforce service delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience providing effective leadership to both a team of direct reports and across system and process review
About us
Located at Coopers Plains, FSQ operates specialised Forensic Biology, Forensic Chemistry and Forensic Operations functions that provides forensic services and expert advice to the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and the Coroner's Court of Queensland.
Our work at FSQ involves exposure to material related to deaths and criminal offences that may be confronting, due to its graphic and personal nature. Sensitive and professional management of exhibits and information is a critical requirement of this role. The successful candidate will have personal qualities that include well developed resilience, tact and effective strategies for managing themselves and their ability to support colleagues in situations that may be distressing and stressful.
Please note that proposed legislative and structural changes may result in Forensic Science Queensland being moved to another agency within Queensland Public Sector.
