Manager Engineering & Projects - Senior Executive Officer

The Manager Engineering & Projects is responsible for the timely delivery of the capital works program utilising effective project management and governance processes, providing engineering and technical (including SCADA and electrical) services across the business for the construction, maintenance and operation of all water and wastewater assets.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Manage and implement an effective long term capital works program, on time and on budget.
- Deliver the program of capital works, ensuring effective resource management.
- Stakeholder engagement (internal and external), contractor management, risk identification and mitigation and effective project and change management across the business.
- Provide design and technical advice on all water and wastewater projects to ensure consistent outcomes in accordance with Westernport Water’s approved technical design standards and principles, and industry design standards.
- Contractor management for capex related work, including all tender processes, engagement, construction work, contractor safety and supervision, and handover in line with WPW Project Management Framework.
- Advisor to the GM Assets & Operations, on capital works program delivery, technical performance, safety, budget, and strategic and innovative solutions.
- Undertake Manager (on call) after hours on a rostered basis.
Key Selection Criteria
- Significant experience in design, engineering, project management and construction within the water industry.
- Successful leadership and management experience of technical teams, particularly in supporting and developing team members.
- Tertiary qualification in engineering that already has led to, or may result in, admission to professional accreditation for Victorian engineers, and/or similar technical qualifications.
- Extensive experience in interpreting regulatory frameworks and developing risk management plans to deliver compliant and pragmatic outcomes.
- Demonstrated high level of communication and negotiation skills and business acumen, including with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in a technical management role with demonstrated ability to plan and act strategically as part of a leadership team.
- A current driver’s licence suitable for Victoria.
