About the Role:
A highly influential role, as the Manager Financial Strategy you will work closely with Council's Executive Leadership Team and elected Councillors to provide specialist financial guidance to ensure that Council remains financially sustainable.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic financial advice to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership Team, Audit & Risk Committee and Council.
- Monitoring and reporting on Council's financial sustainability, including the development of the Long-Term Financial Plan.
- Embrace a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and business partnering.
- Good governance and organisational accountability - ensure the Council meets all audit and statutory compliance requirements with respect to financial management.
- Provide professional knowledge and experience of legislative compliance, insurance and risk management, procurement services and practices and Business Continuity Planning - ensuring Council meets all regulatory requirements.
- Development and delivery of financial management, rating, and valuation strategies.
- Integrated planning of Council services.
- Support and further develop a high-performing team.
About You:
To support your success in this role you will have:
- A proven track record in developing and delivering financial strategies and policies that enable an organisation to make sound business decisions.
- The ability to provide strategic advice at an executive management level.
- Demonstrated project management skills to drive change and improvement initiatives.
- Ability to critically analyse complex corporate issues, interpret and compile appropriate technical reports and formulate valid recommendations.
- Ability to support risk management and compliance activities and effectively embedding and building a value-add risk management culture across the organisation.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and child safety.
Tertiary qualifications in Business (Accounting), Commerce, or a related field are essential, as is a current Chartered Accountant or CPA qualification with current membership. Extensive knowledge of local government services, or experience working within a similar, large and complex organisation would also be required.
