About the Role:Reporting to the Head of Communications and Policy, the Manager of Policy and Issues Analysis is a key member of Woodside's Corporate Affairs team based in Perth.
This role provides insight and analysis on public Policy and geopolitical issues and trends of relevance to the company's activities in Australia and the Asia Pacific. You will work closely with stakeholders across different parts of the business to provide expertise and advice to support existing operations, projects and country entry opportunities. The role also has a strong issues management focus, working with colleagues in government relations, communities, First Nations and other areas to enhance Woodside's reputation and influence with government, industry associations and other stakeholders.
The position is offered as a 24-month fixed term basis with possibility to extend beyond.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Maintain oversight and provide advice on key public policy trends and activities occurring within political jurisdictions of importance to Woodside.
- Provide geopolitical analysis to support country entry and new business opportunities in Australia and the Asia Pacific.
- Develop strategies and plans that enable Woodside to identify, prioritise and develop responses to emerging issues impacting Woodside's reputation and social license to operate.
- Coordinate and actively participate in Woodside's work with key industry associations, including strategies and governance to support industry advocacy.
- Provide advice and direction on development of Woodside public policy positions, including submissions to government.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Economics, Law.
- Ability to identify long-term themes driving public policy in Australia and the Asia Pacific, providing insight on future direction and potential opportunities and threats to Woodside's business.
- Ability to conduct analysis of long-term geopolitical trends and instil this analysis in key strategic decisions, such as new country entry.
- Experience working with senior government, regulatory and industry stakeholders on complex issues.
- Strong networking skills and demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing a broad range of stakeholder and advising business leaders at a senior level.
- Knowledge of the geopolitical environment and policy making structures in Australia and the Asia-Pacific, and ability to interpret them for a business context.
- Proven ability to create and implement issues mapping, advocacy plans and strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in an external environment analysis role is desirable.
- Prior experience working for government, an industry association or policy institute is welcome.
