Overview:
The Manager, Policy and Strategic Leadership is responsible for providing high-level Strategic Leadership, policy advice, consultation and advocacy on Aboriginal health matters to shape system-wide priorities and drive the systemic changes required to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal South Australians.
The role oversees the development and delivery of Aboriginal health policy, plans and strategies across SA Health consistent with Closing the Gap and Aboriginal Health Care Framework commitments; provides strategic advice to the Chief Aboriginal Health Officer, Chief Executive and Minister on Aboriginal health policy matters; and contributes high-level strategic input from a South Australian perspective into national Aboriginal health policy forums.
The Manager Policy and Strategic Leadership leads the Aboriginal Health Unit’s Policy and Strategic Leadership Team and works collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the alignment of strategic priorities and approaches to advance the Aboriginal health agenda.

Criminal History Screening Requirement
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
Special Conditions
- Proven experience in Aboriginal health, affairs, and Aboriginal policy.
- Inter and intrastate travel will be required.
- Out of hours work may be required.
