The Division

The purpose of Regulatory Oversight Division (ROD) is to deliver upon our aviation safety obligations for the provision of surveillance and regulatory services to authorisation holders in an efficient and effective manner. The Division is also responsible for providing regulatory guidance to support the aviation community understand the regulatory framework.

The Oversight Strategy Branch (OSB) support CASA and the Regulatory Oversight Division through the cohesive development of regulatory oversight strategy which enables effective and efficient regulatory operations.

The Opportunity

CASA is seeking an applicant to join the Regulatory Oversight Division who are ready to use their extensive  aviation experience in a management role within the Surveillance Branch. We are seeking candidates who work collaboratively and cohesively with their colleagues, peers and regulated entities conducting aviation operations nationally and internationally in accordance with CASA’s obligations under the Civil Aviation Act 1988 (the Act).

The Surveillance Branch performs scheduled surveillance, proactive campaign surveillance and response events based on available safety risk information. The branch undertakes assessments of compliance against the legislation and mandated standards in a range of ways, including on-site and desk-based audits. Inspectors conduct an objective assessment of ongoing compliance against the legislative requirements and CASA policies. Non-compliance is managed by drawing on a range of regulatory responses in a proportionate, fair and safety risk-based manner.

The Surveillance Manager (Melbourne) (CTM)1, 2 or 3 will report to the National Manager Surveillance and will possess a highly advanced level of capability in leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team of regulators who provide specialist technical functions and services to ensure the safety regulation of civil air operations in Australia and the operation of Australian aircraft overseas.
