Job description

Manager – Sustainability and Industry Standards

The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) is the peak body representing red meat and pork retailers, wholesalers, processors, and smallgoods manufacturers across the country. Our industry is one of the largest manufacturers in Australia today. We exist for a clear reason: to foster a profitable, viable and sustainable Australian meat industry, valued by the wider community.

We are continually working towards a more competitive and prosperous meat and livestock supply chain that is good for members, good for industry and good for communities. We do this by advocating for effective and strategic policy, supporting industry on important issues and providing members with tools and advice to build and grow their businesses, so they remain competitive and profitable within the global market.

About your new role…

An exceptional opportunity is on offer to join AMIC in the role of Manager – Sustainability and Industry Standards. This role will be responsible for delivering the Sustainability and industry standards components of AMIC’s Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan, under the direction of the General Manager – Industry Affair. This role will principally support AMIC’s livestock processing and meat exporter membership. This is a hands-on, fast paced, and exciting role.

This position will involve taking a leading role in industry initiatives to highlight and promote the sustainability credentials of the AMIC processor and exporter membership. The role will require close collaboration with MLA and AMPC with regards to guiding and utilising sustainability, ESG and waste management R&D projects.

 What will you be doing?

  • Keeping informed and advising AMIC processor and exporter members on evolving sustainability-oriented government policy and regulatory changes.
  • Engaging in the development and consultation of new mandatory and commercial ESG reporting requirement and advocating that rules and regulations are fit for purpose for participants along the meat supply chain.
  • Consulting members in the development of policy positions and strategies and the creation of new assurance programs and verification tools.
  • Advocating on behalf of AMIC members in industry-government forums. This role will be required to closely engage various state and federal government departments and agencies.
  • Contributing to the development and future direction of industry language and Standards, quality assurance and grading programs. The role will be required to represent AMIC members in the development of important industry standards.

Why choose us for your next role?

At AMIC, we are committed to creating a great place to work, with an open, diverse, and inclusive environment. We strive to set the standard and provide services that can make a real and visible difference to our members.

Applications close on 5pm 28 May 2024.  Please note, we may contact applications prior to the closing date, so please do not hesitate to APPLY NOW!
