Schmalz Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Managing Director. This busy and challenging full-time position is based in Bayswater, Victoria.

The tasks of this role include the following:

• Providing overall direction and management of Schmalz Australia, including personnel, sales and financial resources;
• Development and coordination of Schmalz Australia as a successful active operating company with all the associated organisational and commercial tasks;
• Collaborating with Schmalz Group in devising and implementing corporate strategy;
• Implementing and maintaining processes in accordance with regulatory frameworks and company/group guidelines;
• Monitoring and evaluating performance against organisational objectives and strategies;
• Implementing the goals of the international sales and marketing strategy of the Schmalz Group in liaison with the group;
• Developing and acquiring new market and customer segments;
• Planning, coordinating, implementing and controlling sales and marketing activities for Schmalz Australia;
• Close cooperation with regional management and head office, preparing monthly reports and budgets;
• Resolving operational issues and vulnerabilities and continuously improving processes;
• Ensuring stable and efficient processes in the operations areas of purchasing, material management and warehouse management, assembly and production, as well as in quality management
• Management of the employees of Schmalz Australia as well as promoting and supporting them in their day-to-day tasks
• Recruitment, staff changes, and leaves of absence as well as determining salary and bonus arrangements in coordination with the regional management of J. Schmalz GmbH

Skills and experience required for the position:

• Master's degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of total experience in vacuum automation industry positions or close equivalent, including engineering positions.
• 8+ years of experience as General Manager or Sales Manager/Director in small/mid-sized company with appropriate management experience
• „Allrounder“ with strong sales focus and experience in overall business processes including finance/controlling at management level
• Work experience in the automation components business (ideally related to pneumatics) or material handling business would be advantageous
• Ideally multiple years of work experience for a local subsidiary of a German company and familiar with the German culture and mentality
