Our client is a well-known nationally for their high quality products in the mining and construction industry. With offices across NSW and Qld, they specialise in custom design and fabrication of products along with equipment hire. Due to growth, we're currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson to join their team. Within this role, you will be responsible for supporting engineers in providing technical and operational engineering design and drafting documentation.
The role:
- Producing workshop machining and fabrication drawings, 3D models, exploded diagrams suitable for clients or the Engineering and Fabrication teams.
- Generation of files for automated manufacturing.
- Carry out QA checks on completed works.
- Assist with product design tasks to ensure products and services comply with technical requirements, costs and schedule.
- Contribute to engineering projects and reports with specialist skills, research and knowledge as required.
- Work with Engineers and Managers to assist with operational tasks, such as monitoring quality of work and ensure specialist knowledge is shared to assist in raising individual competence.
- Support Engineers and the Production Coordinator / Manager in generation of bill of materials.
- Contribute to design changes and solutions which are implemented and coordinated into the design documentation.
- Undertake any other tasks, duties or specific projects within your area of skill and expertise, as required by your Manager such as assist trades personnel and attend customer sites if required.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Engineering or related discipline.
- Exceptional organisation, time management, planning and prioritisation skills to manage workloads within set time frames.
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the business.
- Experience with 3D CAD software – e.g. Solid Works and AutoCAD Inventor preferrable.
- Engineering, workshop fabrication background.
- Knowledge of industry standards, quality and tolerances.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to deal professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to excellence, safety, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Reliable and prompt with a professional, neat and tidy appearance.
- Ability to work effectively within and contribute to a team environment, as well as work autonomously.
