OTTICO Equipment, creators of SPITWATER, is a family-owned manufacturing company that has been successfully producing high pressure water cleaners at the Albury plant for the commercial and industrial market for the past 40 years.

It’s an exciting time at OTTICO with the business currently experiencing strong growth and demand for its products. Combined with the growth is the redesign project of our flagship product range, as we also look to launch new products whilst maintaining the status quo with the robust, reliable and exceptional quality SPITWATER is renowned for.
The role
As our Mechanical Draftsperson you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing process, working closely with our engineering and operations teams to develop blueprints and detailed plans for various projects, plant, equipment and products. Your prime responsibility will be to create detailed technical drawings and blueprints of our pressure washing machines, including innovation of our new product range. Your attention to detail, proficiency in design software (SolidWorks) and ability to manage multiple tasks is crucial in ensuring the successful execution of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the manufacturing/operations and engineering team to understand design requirements and specifications for continuous improvements and new product designs.
- Create 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks drafting software. And, to prepare 2D and 3D files to be CNC machined, laser cut, bent, and welded.
- Support the manufacturing, design and engineering team through sharing your knowledge and experience for opportunities of process improvement.
- Ensure accurate and timely production of 2D & 3D models / engineering drawings / assembly.
- Create, maintain and help manage the Bill of Materials “BOM”
- Ensure compliance with Australian standards and regulations, when applying your knowledge of drafting principles.
- Understanding, collecting, interpreting and analysing technical data and able to present in simpler form.
The successful candidate:
- Has a mechanical engineering degree or advanced diploma, Cert IV (or equivalent) or,
- Has trade qualifications combined with relevant experience.
- Has at least 5 years’ experience with 3D modelling
- Has previous drafting experience with metal fabrication work, engines, pumps and lifting gear would be highly desirable
- Is familiar with relevant Australian Standards
- Is a very good communicator with strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement
If you hold other relevant qualifications in drafting (e.g., Cert IV in Engineering Drafting), these would be a distinct advantage.
