Contract role (12 months)
This is a rare opportunity to enter the medical device market in a small Melbourne-based company specialising in a niche operating theatre product line.
The right to live and work full time in Australia for the duration of the contract is a requirement of the position.
Required skills:
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software & solid modelling (Autodesk Inventor ideal).
- Engineering background (Any, but a decent mechanical aptitude is important, some DC electrical circuit knowledge is required).
- Understanding of formal verification & validation testing (V&V for an electro-mechanical product).
- Acceptance of formal engineering change process within a quality management system (QMS).
Responsibilities:
- Ensure engineering changes are implemented correctly through the formal process of our QMS.
- Assist with raising engineering change notices (ECNs), working closely with production team to understand suggested improvements to both process and design.
- Produce and maintain engineering files and drawings through Autodesk Inventor software.
- Maintain and update work instructions as engineering changes are implemented.
- Provide support for our Quality department when engineering input is required, such as non-conforming product (NCP) assessments.
- Perform verification testing of novel product and ensure all test plans and reports are documented.
The first 3 months of this contract position will be primarily familiarisation with the product through completion of outstanding ECNs and collaboration with production staff.
Following this introductory period, there will be the need to perform formal verification testing against all product requirements for a newly designed product.
This is expected to take a maximum of 6 months, with the final 3 months to be reserved primarily for documentation required to perform a handover to production staff.
At this stage there is no requirement beyond the 12-month contract period but there will be a review after 9 months to determine if ongoing employment is suitable.
