About the role
We are seeking a seasoned and accomplished Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance on mechanical systems, conducting thorough technical investigations and risk assessments, developing comprehensive requirements and tasking statements, meticulously reviewing engineering design deliverables, conducting rigorous engineering assurance on deliverables, performing meticulous verification and validation assurance activities on mechanical systems, and fostering effective collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve engineering change management and configuration management objectives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert on mechanical systems within the scope delegated by the Principle Engineer
- Provide astute guidance, technical leadership, expert advice, and direction to support the customer and the business unit on mechanical systems
- Conduct thorough technical investigations and risk assessments in accordance with ANP3411-0010 on ship’s mechanical systems within the limits of delegation
- Develop detailed requirements and tasking statements that align with project objectives
- Review engineering design deliverables with a critical eye and provide in-depth design reviews
- Conduct rigorous engineering assurance on deliverables to ensure compliance with SOLAS, MAPROL, DEF(AUST) 5000, and Class requirements
- Perform meticulous verification and validation assurance activities on mechanical systems to guarantee the highest standards of quality and reliability
- Foster effective collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external, within a multidisciplinary team to achieve engineering change management and configuration management objectives
- Deliver Mechanical Engineering assurance in accordance with Engineering management plans, processes, and best practices within the Naval Technical Regulatory Framework
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in defence in a similar position
- Eligibility to obtain a Suitably Qualified Experience Personnel (SQEP) delegation within an Authorized Engineering Organisation (AEO)
- Eligibility for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance on relevant ship systems
- Proven experience in the Defence Industry
- Demonstrated expertise in Marine Engineering.
- Must have NV1 Clearance
