About the OPPORTUNITY
We have two exciting opportunities for Mechanical Engineers to join our Maritime Sustainment business and make a valuable engineering contribution on the ANZAC Class naval ships. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be part of an inclusive and supportive team based at our Henderson Perth location, and will be employed on a permanent full time basis.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including having a rostered day off work through a 9-day fortnight arrangement and having a hybrid working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop naval ship platform engineering changes on mechanical systems/equipment
- Assist with the development of mechanical systems/equipment test plans, set to work and commissioning activities
- Attend and inspect the ship platforms, supporting the assembly, integration, and testing of the mechanic systems/equipment
- Undertake investigations on obsolescence issues for mechanical systems/equipment
- Provide advice to the engineering team on the delivery of Mechanical Engineering tasks
- Collaborate effectively with customers, internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a positive culture
- Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve Mechanical Engineering practices
About YOU
- Relevant tertiary engineering degree and extensive Mechanical Engineering or systems engineering experience
- Experience in designing new mechanical systems/equipment or designing engineering changes on existing mechanical systems/equipment
- An understanding of systems engineering methodology and experience with various engineering technologies
- Self-motivation, be open to new challenges and the ability to collaborate well with a variety of stakeholders
