About these opportunities
You will complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade over 48 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with your Host Employer, BlueScope.
Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:
Assist qualified tradespeople in the installation and maintenance of materials handling equipment
Undertake equipment diagnostic testing and repairs
Perform general and preventative mechanical maintenance, inspections and fault finding on equipment
Use handheld, battery operated and specialist tools of the trade to carry out tasks
Some roles will rotate across our 3 business sites which are located in Salisbury, Acacia Ridge and Archerfield and some roles will stay located at Salisbury for the duration of the apprenticeship.
Assist in general mechanical duties that are within the limits of the skills, competence and ability of an apprentice
The successful applicant
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following capabilities and knowledge:
Commitment to both on and off the job training
Demonstrated interest and passion for the Mechanical trade
Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong understanding of safety and manual handling techniques
Strong attention to detail
Developed mathematical ability
Current manual drivers licence (P1 or above)
Ability to undertake a standard medical including a drug and alcohol test
