We are looking for a motivated team member to lead and manage our growing Marine Mechanic Department. As Head of the Mechanic department, you’ll have the independence to lead and grow your own team, whilst working on the latest high-horsepower outboards powering some of the most respected boat brands in the world
THE JOB: Short Marine sells and services some of the best boat brands in the world, across a range of categories, and we specialise in high horsepower Yamaha outboards. The Head Mechanic plays a vital role in helping Short Marine achieve its vision by driving the Mechanic team, managing the department's schedule and delivering a world class customer experience.
As Head of the Mechanic Department, your responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Manage, lead and build a team of marine mechanics to carry out engine servicing, Engine fit up/ repower and service repair work on new & used boats.
- Deliver an exceptional level of customer service to all customers, including regular communication and updates before, during and after each service.
- Create quotes/estimates in a timely manner (within 1-2 days of initial request).
- Convert job cards to invoices in a timely manner (within 4-8 hours of work being completed).
- Effectively manage debtors at all times.
- Order parts and effectively manage stock levels
- Perform mechanical duties when required and lead by example
- Manage and maintain a positive culture within the team.
- Responsible for quality control and delivering a world-class standard of work.
- Consistently achieve labour and parts targets and ensure the department is profitable at all times.
- Create monthly reports to discuss with head of service

REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualified Mechanic (can be automotive)
- Experience Managing a Team
- Customer Relations Experience
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Boat Licence
- Car licence
