About the Position
The Media and Engagement Advisor supports the management of Fair Work Commission (Commission) media enquiries and Engagement activities. Working closely with the Media and Engagement Team Leader, you will support the delivery of the Commission’s strategic communications and Engagement strategies. These strategies focus on providing public value and maintaining the Commission’s reputation as an expert independent workplace relations tribunal.
Day-to-day you will monitor, allocate and action the Media and Engagement requests that we receive. You will work as part of a larger communication and website management team and will be required to work collaboratively and flexibly across the team to address urgent work priorities as they arise.
As you develop in the role, you will be informed by a deep understanding of the Commission’s operating environment and priorities. You will have well-developed communication skills and possess the ability to maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. These include the Commission’s Executive and senior management groups, Commission Members, media, international organisations, community groups, Small Business Reference Group members and other government agencies.
Duties
- Support the management and delivery of the Commission’s Media and Engagement activities.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to prepare accurate and timely responses to media enquiries.
- Draft speeches, presentations and other materials for the President, General Manager, Members and Executive team.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate events.
- Support the implementation of the Commission’s engagement strategy with a strong focus on culturally and linguistically diverse and vulnerable audiences.
- Monitor and manage Media and Engagement requests and support the preparation of reports and analysis of our Media and Engagement activities.
- Perform the secretariat functions for our Small Business Reference Group and provide support in developing agendas and managing invitations.
- Perform other duties as directed.
