Mine Emergency Services Officer - FIFO
Brightstar Resources Limited (ASX:BTR) is an emerging gold development company located in the Laverton and Menzies regions of Western Australia – both internationally renowned mineral provinces.
Brightstar Resources require the services of a Mine ESO to contributing to the uncompromised delivery of emergency response capabilities at their Second Fortune Project.
Second Fortune is an active gold producer located 220km north of Kalgoorlie. the company has recently acquired the Lord Byron assets, 100km from Second Fortune, with plans to restart the open pit and underground in late 2024.
The Role
Reporting to the Underground Manager, you will play a vital role in providing a professional approach to Emergency Services, training and compliance with OHS systems and procedures. This role would ideally suit someone who has previously worked underground in various roles and can train and pass out personnel in various job roles. Other duties include:
- Respond to onsite emergencies both surface and underground
- Provide leadership and training services for the site emergency response team
- Equipment preparedness including inspections and reports
- Provide first aid/pre hospital care for personnel
- Conduct fitness for work testing
- Maintain the site medical centre
- Co-ordinate site mock emergencies
- Co-ordinate with other local operators in the area for ERT training and mutual aid agreements
- Assist in the update and maintenance of the site Emergency Response Plan
- Train and assess underground crew in various job roles
- Update and maintain the site hazard register
- Update and maintain the site training matrix
- Underground and surface inspections and audits
- Conduct aerodrome services as required (two flight movements a week)
- Promote an active safety culture
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) (Desirable)
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (Essential)
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response (Desirable)
- Drug & Alcohol screening Officer (Desirable)
- Minimum two years in a similar role
- ARO qualification (desirable)
- Strong leadership skills with a proactive attitude and commitment to safety
- A current National Police Clearance
- Current “C” Class Western Australian driver’s license
