Salisbury Family Care has a growing team of GPs who are supported by a full time nurse, receptionists and allied health services. The clinic is open from Monday through to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm and has on-site pathology.

Position Details

General responsibilities overview
- Manage clinician schedules and patient bookings
- Maintain the appearance of front reception area
- Being the first point of contact for patients and others visiting the clinic and on the phone.
- General administrative tasks such as booking appointments, sending correspondence, scanning documents, generating new patient files
- Assisting with medical requests from GPs, specialists or allied health within the practice including sending referrals, contacting external medical providers etc.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient medical records and information
- Processing of patient payments and Medicare billing
- Carry out a variety of tasks which may be complex in nature and require judgement in prioritising competing tasks ensuring all are completed with precision and on time
- Ensuring communication, patient file notes and other documentation are accurate and entered correctly in-patient file management system
- Assisting with the co-ordination of clinical projects within the practice

Skills and experience
- Experience working in General Practice or a similar medical profession role is desirable
- The ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in sometimes stressful situations
- Excellent personal communication skills with an ability to relate to people at different levels and from different backgrounds
- Knowledge of the value of privacy and confidentiality particularly in a healthcare setting
- Demonstrated computer literacy with highly developed word processing and database management skills and the ability to learn new electronic clinical information systems. Knowledge of Best Practice medical software would be an advantage
- Proven customer service experience with the ability to manage conflict and remain calm under pressure
- Good communication skills
- Respectful attitude and treatment of colleagues
- Previous experience coordinating projects is desirable but not essential
- Some flexibility in availability is preferred given we are a small team
