Organisation Overview
Carbal Medical Services (Carbal) is a Not-For-Profit, charitable organisation that provides health services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in and around Toowoomba and Warwick.
The core function of Carbal Medical Services is to provide medical services to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people through two medical practices and multiple community programs and initiatives. Carbal covers the regions of Darling Downs, Southern Downs and Goondiwindi, this position will be based in our Warwick Clinic.
Position Overview
You are confident, approachable, professional and well presented, have a highly professional phone manner and you love making a difference within health outcomes in our community.
You will work alongside other reception staff and be responsible for ensuring all aspects of reception are covered. Ideally you will be familiar with the medical software program “Best Practice” and possess a high level knowledge of Medicare systems and item numbers, especially in relation to Indigenous health. Naturally, experience in providing culturally safe services will be highly regarded and your sense of privacy and confidentiality will make you stand apart from other applicants.

Requirements:
Essential
- Previous medical receptionist experience;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with patients with a caring attitude;
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure;
- Sound computer skills and experience with Best Practice or another clinical software package;
- Well presented, friendly, organised and reliable, with accuracy and excellent attention to detail;
- You must have an Open C Class driver license valid in Queensland;
- Satisfactory Police Check – no Serious/Criminal/Court Record, and ability to obtain a Blue Card. This will be conducted on initial appointment and on an annual basis in line with Carbal's compliance schedule;
Desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of common health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
