Instalair can design and engineer, manufacture and install Air Systems for any application from small portable collector units to large scale industrial projects. We also design and fabricate in a variety of large sheet steel and
galvanised steel, including stainless steel and wear plate, to any specific requirements.
Instalair employs qualified Boilermakers and Sheet Metal Workers, as well as Engineers, Estimators and Administrative Staff; with extensive knowledge of all types of Metal Fabrication with the highest commitment to quality of service and product, including safety, in all aspects of our business.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Metal Fabricator CAM Drafter will be responsible for designing/generating drawings and specifications for Instalair’s fabricated products and parts. The drafter will also be required to provide cost estimates for projects and work as a team with the workshop foreman to project manage through to production completion. Items produced include ductwork for dust collection systems, equipment housings, and other sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the metal industry, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent drafting skills.
Core Drafting:
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
- Analyse project documents and develop detailed drawings required to accurately convey scope of work.
- Accurately provide cost estimates for projects.
- Utilise FastCAM to produce accurate fabrication and assembly drawings and programming for plasma cutting.
- Work with engineers, technicians, purchasing and other personnel to meet project goals.
- Project management through to completion.
- Provide technical assistance.
- Provides leadership in the overall performance management of projects and the team, including setting clear expectations, providing assistance to the team and reviewing results.
Safety and Compliance:
- Comply with all safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure that all installations meet quality and safety standards.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with design, engineering and fabrication teams to ensure the accuracy of installations.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for design improvements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents.
- Driver’s License.
- A demonstrated high level of fabrication intuition.
- A strong knowledge of fabrication materials and their interactions.
- Proficient with FastCAM software, CAD experience is also a plus.
- Experience with programming and metal profiles for plasma cutting.
- Experience with quantity surveying, general fabrication estimating, ideally Metal Fabrication estimating.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to complete QA paperwork.
- Strong work, safety, and quality ethics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Applicants must be physically capable to carry out lifting and other manual tasks (if required) and must be able to comply with zero drug and alcohol policies.
- Some travel to sites may be required.
