Metal Machinist (First Class)

Ulbrec is a manufacturer and exporter of specialised pipeline filtration products with over 70 years of continuous operation in Victoria.
Ulbrec filtration products are protecting critical pipeline equipment with nearly every major mining, oil and gas, petrochemical and process manufacturing Customer in Australasia, and many others in ASEAN, South America, Africa, the Middle East etc.
About the Role
The Metal Machinist (First Class) role responsibilities include:

• Follow Safe Work and environmental harm reduction procedures
• Study drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances and machining methods for articles to be manufactured and products to be constructed
• Measure and mark out metal stock and castings using various gauges
• Shape metal stock using manual and semi-automated machine tools
• Operate CNC machinery according to standard operating procedures and documented instructions
• Check accuracy of manufactured articles and finished tools and jigs to fine tolerances, using precision measuring instruments
• Test and modify manufactured parts and products
• Apply protective finishes to patterns and painting pattern sections to indicate method of assembly
• Read, understand, and follow Work Orders, specifications and accurately create/maintain work and As Built records
• Inspect and works as necessary to meet product specifications
• Work with other trades to assist in the machining, fabrication or welding of multi-component weldments and assemblies
• Assemble and test finished and semi-finished products
• Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) or equivalent
• Experience as a First Class Machinist or Toolmaker in a manufacturing/ fabrication environment
• Proficient in reading drawings and technical information
• Demonstrated effectiveness working in a team environment.
• Confident, proactive character, ability to take directions
• Good English communication skills
• Desirable: familiarity with destructive and non-destructive examination techniques of engineering products
