Mid Level Interior Designer

About our Melbourne Studio:
Located in a beautifully refurbished heritage building in Melbourne’s CBD, our Melbourne team are passionate about delivering quality projects, building solid relationships with clients, suppliers and greater community. Originally formed in 1997 to deliver one of Melbourne’s largest master planning projects, NewQuay, we continue to be involved in the design and delivery of design projects of significance across Victoria.
The role:
Plus Architecture are seeking a design-focused, detail-orientated, and technically skilled Interior Designer to join our team on a full time basis. Our Interior Design team work on projects both individually and as a team, managing projects from end-to-end (including documentation in Revit), across multi-residential, hotel, workspace, commercial and hospitality sectors.
General requirements of the role:
- Drive the interior design of Plus projects, working both independently and within project teams
- Integrate interior design work with the work of other design disciplines
- Expertly resolve detailing and technical issues in line with the project’s design agenda
- Contribute to all project phases: concept design, space planning, design development, documentation to on-site construction management and contract administration
- Prepare presentations and communicate designs in Revit, InDesign, Photoshop
- Where appropriate, manage project teams, deliverables and finances to meet profit targets and deadlines
- Report regularly to the Management Team regarding the status of projects
Our ideal candidate will need to be or have the following:
- Professional degree in Interior Architecture / Interior Design
- Minimum 5 years of post-degree professional experience
- Experience in hotel, hospitality, residential and commercial projects
- Previous experience through all phases of design (concept design through to construction administration)
- Strong contract documentation and detailing experience
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite
- Good 3D/Rendering Skill Set in Lumion, Enscape or an equivalent program
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to proactively communicate with team members, consultants and clients
- A good understanding of the BCAs and related building regulations and specifications
Candidates must demonstrate confidence and be comfortable to work creatively under pressure and to deadlines. We are looking for someone with a demonstrated high level of integrity, maturity, and diplomacy. We work hard but we don’t take ourselves too seriously – having a strong work ethic will get you far in this position.
