This is a site-based position, working at our Ernest Henry operation. The Ernest Henry copper-gold operation (EHO) is a large-scale, long-life asset. The operation employs the sub-level caving extraction method. It is located 38km north-east of Cloncurry, Queensland on the traditional lands of the Mitakoodi people.
About the role
The Mining Engineer is the key liaison between the Technical Services and Mine Operations teams. Working underground, you will be tasked with achieving and maintaining good relationships with both teams, identifying where plans and actions are diverging and addressing the gaps to maintain adherence to plan. Key result areas in this role may include:
• Develop and provide safe and efficient drill and blast plans.
• Daily monitoring, recording and optimisation of production progress.
• Manage contractors on site and assist supervisors with day to day running of the mine
• Conduct mine process and business improvement studies as required
• Actively participate and support team activities, meetings and initiatives
• Assist the Senior Engineer in establishing and implementing safe working practices and procedures
• Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements in respect to mining activities are met
• Commit to maintaining health, safety and security standards and principles, both within your own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout Evolution
About you
We are looking for people who have the following attributes, skills and experience:
• Tertiary Engineering Qualifications – preferably in Mining
• Underground mine engineering experience
• Experience with mine design software
• Communicating information – verbal, written, numerical and graphical.
• An ability to develop excellent relationships with peers, leaders, and subordinates
• Self-directed to achieve individual, team and organisational goals
