Mining Engineer

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Mining Engineer to be based out of the Brisbane office and provide additional engineering assistance to all our Australian operations. This role will see you work across both QLD and NSW and would suit an individual who enjoys working on challenges and can quickly learn and adapt to mining scenarios and provide the best possible technical advice.

Duties will include:

· Develop, implement and uphold safe and efficient work practices at all times;

· Develop and distribute high quality schedules and designs that maximises the efficient use of site resources.

· Maintain and ensure reports are kept up to date whilst identifying opportunities for improvement and cost savings.

· Ensuring mine plans and designs are optimised, whilst abiding by safe work practices and environmental regulations.

· Present weekly plans clearly and concisely to colleges, mid and upper management and communicate critical paths, risks and opportunities.

· Monitor mining performance against short and mid-term schedules to ensure waste movement and coal flow schedules meet budgeted movement.

· Build positive working relationships with both internal and external parties.

· Assist in developing budgets and forecasts as required.

About You:

· Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering, or comparable degree

· Experience in open cut mining operations within the coal industry preferred

· The ability to develop dig plans whilst considering pit design, ground conditions, environmental constraints and accesses.

· Demonstrated experience with and sound working knowledge of CAD software such as Vulcan or Deswik, MS Excel and scheduling software such as Spry or Gantt Scheduler.

· Demonstrate successful application/s of Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives through scheduling, design or innovation in current or previous mining positions.

· Excellent planning and organising skills, the ability to coach / mentor junior engineers and to enlist help or resources when required.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
