About the Music Therapy Service:
Music Therapy is a component of the Leisure and Creative Therapies Service that comprises Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Horticultural Therapy and Leisure Therapy. This innovative and unique service is based at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Center which excels in supporting patients and staff to achieve enhanced health and wellbeing.
The service provides a quality program that is person focused, goal oriented and guided by defined practice standards and ongoing review and evaluation.
About the Role:
As a Music Therapist you will work collaboratively with a supportive team of professionals, who are passionate about providing best practice care for patients.
You will enjoy a friendly and supportive team who genuinely enjoy their work and the contributions they make.
In this position you will:
- Provide individual sessions and group programs to rehabilitation patients supporting their physical, cognitive, communication and emotional recovery.
- Work as part of a Multidisciplinary team.
- Develop person centred approaches with colleagues to support patients with their goals.
- Work with a range of patient groups including people recovering from spinal cord injury, Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), stroke, amputation, or orthopaedic injuries/surgery and other illnesses or conditions requiring reconditioning.
About You:
You will be a person who is professional, confident and innovative, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset
You’ll further have:
- Masters, Bachelor or Post Grad Dip qualification in Music Therapy and current registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association
- Impeccable musical skills (guitar and voice skills are a necessity)
- A passion for Music Therapy and its benefits in the area of rehabilitation.
- Capable of working independently, as well as within a multi disciplinary team approach.
