Role Definition
Reporting to the Development Leader, the primary role of the National Development Manager is to support initiatives across our Australian partnerships, create efficiencies and processes around management and engagement of those relationships, new broker identification and training/education.
The role will require travel across the Australian territory, however, will have a heavy focus on our Tier 1 and Tier 2 partnerships. You will be required to work closely with the Development Leader to action the sales strategy and collaborate with other Development Managers across the business.
Although the role will not be directly responsible for underwriting, it will require close interaction with the underwriters to ensure that messaging is aligned with underwriting strategy and to gain insight on day-to-day interactions amongst our underwriters and broker partners.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Responsible for key account management and performance metrics with a focus on Australian relationships
- Building the company brand and profile in the Australian market
- Development of new broker relationships, including on-boarding.
- Participation in the delivery of presentations both live and virtually
- Working with marketing to develop sales support materials for broker partners based on market demand
- Maintain extensive knowledge of key competitors in key trading territories
- Identification of new go to market strategies
- Frequent engagement with underwriting teams to align with underwriting strategy
Skills & Ability
- Strong knowledge of general insurance business particularly financial lines / Professional Risks
- Understanding of insurance fundamentals and best practices from an agency management perspective
- Motivated self-starter with proven business development capability
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines and turnaround times
- Resilient and able to operate effectively and accurately under pressure
- Executive level communications skills, courtesy, and patience
- Confident, energetic, and assertive

Knowledge & Experience
- A well established and respected Business Development / Relationship Manager across the intermediated market with a min 10 year experience responsible for driving new broker and channel strategies with a focus on top line growth.
Education & Qualifications
- Insurance qualifications preferred but not required
