Are you a dedicated and experienced professional with a strong operational knowledge in safety, risk, and environmental management? BGIS is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of National HSSEQ Manager for our esteemed client.
Location: Brisbane (base location) with travel required to different locations across Australia.
Responsibilities:
The National HSSEQ Manager will receive direction from the Account Manager and from the Corporate Safety function, however will be expected to manage and report on any risks impacting the contract. The position therefore requires a leader who is willing to work flexibly whilst ensuring all deadlines are achieved.
Using a flexible and adaptable approach the responsibilities of the National HSSEQ Manager are to manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the BGIS' Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management to:
- Ensure compliance with statutory and contractual obligations;
- Maintain WHS system compliance with AS/NZS 4801 and OHSAS 18001;
- Maintain Environmental system compliance with AS/NZS ISO 14001;
- Provide WHSE expertise, guidance and support for the Client in line with BGIS protocols;
- Maintain BGIS processes, procedures and records on the BGIS Intranet page to ensure it is relevant and available for auditing purposes;
- Ensure all incidents, hazards and near misses are investigated and reported via the BGIS WHS Incident portal in a timely manner, whilst notifying the BGIS Account Manager and Client representatives immediately;
- Manage internal and external WHSE audits;
- Provide training on WHSE management periodically and ad-hoc, as required;
- Provide technical support to contract-based employees;
- Support contract transitions (i.e.: new contracts & resecured contracts);
- Report on all HSSEQ matters;
- Thoroughly investigate all incidents;
- WHSE policies and procedures are met and maintained by all stakeholders.
Essential
- Experience in an OH&S Supervisor or Manager role.
- Proven ability in working within an integrated services and property model delivering a Property Management, Facilities Management, Project Management and Financial Management Services.
- Strong understanding of operations in the Facilities Management space.
- Proven experience in conducting OH&S audits.
- Knowledge of AS/NZS 4801 - Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and AS/NZS ISO 14001 - Environmental Management Systems and associated WHS laws
- Knowledge of OHAS 18001 - Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Strong demonstrated experience in a property or corporate real estate environment or at a senior level in a similarly complex industry.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated business planning and high-level financial knowledge and skills.
- Able to respond quickly to change and adopt a flexible/ innovative approach to problems and opportunities.
- Proficient in desktop applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System knowledge (CMMS).
- Experience in an Environmental supervisor/manager role.
Essential
- Minimum Diploma in OHS qualification. Preferred bachelor's Degree in a related discipline with experience in safety.
- Manual Drivers Licence.
- General Safety Induction Construction White Card
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Formal tertiary qualifications in Property, Commerce, Business or similar discipline.
- Certificate IV in OH&S Management.
- RIIWHS202E - Enter and Work in Confine Spaces
- RIIWHS204E - Work safely at heights
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment or other teaching/training qualification
- Any auditing qualifications would be highly advantageous
- TAPRoot &/or ICAM investigation qualifications
- Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Food Safety Supervisor
- Candidate is required to undergo and pass a medical assessment to ensure they are 'fit for work' prior to commencing work at the site.
- Candidate is required to undergo a Police Check prior to commencing work at site.
- Candidate must undertake a range of general and site inductions prior to commencing work at the site.
