National Trade & Distribution Manager

About the role

As part of this transformation, we are offering a newly created role of National Trade & Distribution Manager in our In-Markets function.

The In-Market Brands (IMB) portfolio comprises of over 60+ molecules, 7+ therapeutic areas, and accounts for almost half of total Novartis sales. The portfolio is diverse, comprising of products across F1/F2/CDL formulary, S85/S100, retail and hospital channels.

Agility and Resilience are key traits required to succeed in IMB, as well as a broad understanding of the pharmaceutical landscape, and the strategic levers which will enable growth to be realised across the portfolio and enterprise.

As the National Trade and Distribution Manager you will be responsible for the strategic relationship management across our wholesaler and distribution network. You will have strong experience in developing and executing trade strategy in the pharmaceutical industry with advanced understanding of the wholesaler network, retail and hospital pharmacy channels and key accounts. As a key member of the In-Market Brands team, you will report to the Head of Trade, Alliance Management, BD&L.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute supply chain and distribution access strategies within a diverse customer channel mix including wholesale, community pharmacy, public and private hospital accounts, specialty distributors, and direct accounts.
• Lead wholesaler strategic relationships and contractual negotiations, influences and builds enduring relationships
• Determine National Trade strategy across the Novartis portfolio in conjunction with the Head of Trade
• Champion innovation in supply and distribution models
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate concepts and implementation initiatives/projects cross functionally
• Track competitive intelligence across trade channels and manage internal communications to leverage opportunity with respective teams
• Contribute to new trade channel development and execution
• Lead coordination and stakeholder management for trade channel key events including pricing, supply shortages, new product planning.

Role Requirements

About you:
• Bachelor's degree and significant relevant experience and/or qualifications required.
• 7+ years of experience in Australian pharmaceutical industry, including 5+ years of trade channel, distribution or supply chain management.
• Direct account experience within Specialty Pharmacy and/or Specialty Distribution preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of supply chain processes, wholesale and distributor networks.
• Advanced negotiation skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
• Confidence and Executive Presence.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization.
• Proficiency in MS office applications.
• Excellent financial literacy and analytical capacity.
• Understanding of business intelligence platforms including IQVIA, Nostradata, PBS10%, is desirable.
• Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry including knowledge of pharmacy channel, hospital networks, PBS price disclosure, and market dynamics.
