Are you up for the challenge?
We are currently looking for a National Training and Competency Manager to join our team based in Seven Hills, NSW. Reporting to the General Manager Health, Sustainability, Climate & Rail Safety, you will be responsible for all aspects of our training compliance and competency management across Australia.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide governance and process optimisation across the Rail & Transport business to ensure all training compliance and competency management needs are met
  • Provide active leadership and mentoring to a multi-disciplinary team of training professionals with dual responsibility for competency management and technical training requirements
  • Manage commercial arrangements with external training providers to , ensuring all training compliance requirements are met and training is delivered cost effectively
  • Ensuring the Rail & Transport business understands and meets the training and competency management required under the Rail Safety Act. related regulatory and legal obligations
  • Provide guidance to employees and management in relation to project training initiatives
  • Work closely with the People Corporate team to ensure alignment with other business units in terms of training and competency management.
  • Provide input into ongoing project learning and development strategies and improvements
  • Work with Operations teams in developing project training/competency matrices and recommendations in line with Project Management Plans

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a commercial cost/P&L centre
  • Experience in leadership/management, e.g. leading an L&D, Technical Training team or associated function
  • Experience in managing a high level of complexity around key internal and external stakeholders, regulatory requirements, operational delivery and strategic direction
  • Proficient in budget development, monitoring and management
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, e.g. quick thinking and proactive in high level issue resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and build relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to create effective teams to maximise the productive ability of individuals while maintaining a focus on team outcomes and the organisational goal
