The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated National Transport Manager to lead and coordinate our transportation activities across multiple locations or regions within the country. The role is responsible for strategic planning, operational oversight, cost management, and ensuring compliance with regulations while maintaining exceptional service levels. This role involves leading transportation activities, optimizing resources, and driving continuous improvement across our transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement transportation strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Identify opportunities for improvement and cost-saving initiatives in transportation operations
- Oversee day-to-day transportation activities, including route planning, scheduling, and vehicle maintenance
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, and fleet performance
- Vendor Management responsibilities including managing relationships with providers - carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers, negotiate contracts, rates and service level agreements and conduct periodic reviews and performance evaluations
- Ensure all safety and regulatory compliance requirements, as well as evaluate and implement technology integration to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through route optimization, load consolidation, and fuel efficiency initiatives.
- Analyze cost drivers and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
To be successful in the role you will have;
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in transportation management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and technology tools.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on team building, collaboration, and problem-solving
