This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2024

Yanchep Beach Primary School (PS) are seeking to employ a knowledgeable and dedicated Network Support Officer to join their team.

The short-term priorities/goals of this position are to support the Network Administrator to maintain the Information Technology resources and networks to maximise educational and administrative outcomes effectively and efficiently, whilst ensuring integrity of data is maintained through adequate security strategies. The Network Support Officer provides ongoing technical support to staff, identifies issues, and implements software and system enhancements.

The successful applicant should have a strong background in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) with both Mac and PC platforms being an essential part of this role. They should have the ability to work proactively and autonomously and have the knowledge to identify and resolve software, hardware, and network related issues, providing solutions which ensure suitable outcomes. The ability to liaise confidently with numerous personnel within education and private enterprise is important in this role. A background with ICT in schools and education and experience supporting School Information System (SIS) and COMPASS is highly desirable.

Yanchep Beach PS is an Independent Public School located within a new coastal estate 60 kilometres north of Perth. The school opened in January 2014 with 319 students and has grown rapidly to a total enrolment of 730 students at the commencement of 2018. The significant expansion of the school has provided the school with additional staff, resources, and the opportunity to create new and exciting learning experiences for its students.

Yanchep Beach PS has been planned with the latest in design principles and complements the local estate aesthetically. It was the first school in Western Australia to open with a Nature Playground, which is valued as an outside classroom as much as a playground. The school is also equipped with specialist music and art facilities including a kiln, a wireless ICT environment as well as excellent grounds that are accessible to the local community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Knowledge of network systems and platforms relevant to the operating environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to the operational maintenance of Information Technology networks.
  • Organisational skills, including the ability to plan and implement data security procedures.
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Practical experience in developing and implementing user-training procedures.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
