Appointment Pool

Parkwood Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of knowledgeable and hard-working Network Support Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

The Network Support Officer is responsible for maintaining the school’s Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) network and systems and developing and maintaining an asset replacement program. They will also provide advice and training on technical issues associated with ICT, provide input on system enhancements in line with the Department of Education (DoE) requirements and policies and liaise with DoE ICT department when required.

Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to problem solve and provide innovative solutions for diverse scenarios. Ideally, you will be well organised and experienced in reviewing and improving ICT infrastructure and resources. This is not just a help desk role - we are seeking proactive individuals who would improve and maintain our systems and network. You should be able to articulate school ICT needs to the finance and other committees and set plans in place for these to be realised.

Parkwood PS opened in 1975 and is at the eastern end of the Fremantle-Peel Education District. The school sits adjacent to Lynwood Senior High School. Our students enjoy quality facilities, equipment and resources to enhance their learning experiences.

Community involvement at Parkwood PS is important as it provides guidance and assists in the governance of the school. The Board has been pivotal in policy review, quality assurance, direction setting and the adoption of Positive Behaviour Support WA in 2019. The Parents and Citizens (P & C) group continues to be invaluable in whole school funding efforts, community events and engagement and in promoting the work of the school.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Knowledge of network systems and platforms relevant to the operating environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to the operational maintenance of Information Technology networks.
  • Organisational skills, including the ability to plan and implement data security procedures.
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Practical experience in developing and implementing user-training procedures.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
