Non-Executive Director - Agri Funds Management

The Organisation
Lawson Grains is a leading fully integrated (row-cropping) agricultural business headquartered in Albury NSW. They manage approximately 120,000 hectares of land located in 11 aggregations spread across Western Australian and New South Wales, and produces over 220,000 tonnes of grain annually. The strategic acquisition of Hehir’s Transport & Grain Storage businesses in 2023 increased the business’ supply chain capability, particularly in NSW.

Opportunity has been created for an additional Independent Non-Executive Director to join the Board of Lawson Grains, to provide strategic insight and direction as well as guiding future growth opportunities.

Background
The Board is seeking to consist of Directors with the following industry experience:

• Agriculture
  • Strong operational understanding of large-scale production assets, and/or;
  • Agricultural commodity marketing and associated supply chains.
• Finance - with specific experience in the agricultural sector.
• Investment Management - Experience in Funds Management for institutional investors, including fully integrated operations, governance, ESG and Risk.
• Other - Relevant alternative industry experience other than above, including in-depth knowledge of strategy, markets, competitors, operational issues, technology, and regulatory concerns.

Requirements

• Technical knowledge and Skills - Either agricultural economics or agricultural science qualifications and experience.
• Deep understanding of the Australian grain industry and value chain, with relevant networks therein. This includes experience in managing, and deep knowledge of, the Australian political sphere around the agricultural sector.
• Broad knowledge of agriculture dynamics and opportunities beyond grain production and marketing.
• Appreciation of the opportunities within the agriculture sector linked to carbon markets and sustainable agriculture more broadly.
• Knowledge and experience in AgTech would also be viewed favourably.
