About Us
The Office of Regional Economic Development (ORED) within the Department of Regional NSW under the Regional Development umbrella, leads business attraction, promotion and industry development across regional NSW. We are the only fully dedicated regional Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) in Australia. We provide a range of tailor-made facilitation and information services to investors that are looking to establish or expand in regional NSW to drive economic development and create sustainable jobs of the future.
About the role
The Project Officer is responsible for project management, event coordination and program Secretariat functions across ORED, to assist the team to achieve identified outcomes and support realisation of organisational objectives.
Key responsibilities for the Project Officerrole include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope.
- Coordination of regional events and visits including management of logistics, program development run-sheets, schedules, invitations, briefing notes to support the successful delivery of in-person, online and hybrid events.
- Secretariat activities including the development of meeting material, for various decision-making groups associated with the delivery of programs and strategies developed by the Office of Regional Economic Development.
- Research, evaluation and analysis to identify emerging issues and prepare recommendations to resolve policy or process issues and inform program activities.
- Procurement and contract management
This role reports to the Manager – Strategy & Operations and is supported by an Assistant Project Officer position.
Desired Candidate Experience:
- Project management and organisational skills with demonstrated capacity to manage several tasks concurrently.
- Self-motivated professional with project/program management experience
- Proven ability to use own initiative and manage timelines effectively
- Flexible approach to respond to last-minute requests
- Ability to build effective networks and strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitation of exchange and collation of information
- Team player who can support a busy team as needed
Essential requirements
- Relevant qualifications coupled with relevant experience, or equivalent relevant knowledge and experience gained through past employment.
- A current NSW driver’s licence.
