Position Title: Nurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner - Mental Health
Employment Type: Maximum Term Full Time
Hours per week: 38 hours
Position Grade: Nurse Practitioner (Level 1 to 4) / Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1/2
Salary: NP $135,591.23 - $145,181.65 / CNC2 $125,859.93 - $ 130,582.09 base per annum

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to patients of St Vincent's Correctional Health (SVCH). SVCH provides primary health, Mental Health and alcohol and other drug services to custodial patients within the Parklea Correctional Complex. The primary health services provided also includes population health, communicable disease management, radiology and a range of allied health services.
The Mental HealthNurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner is educated and endorsed (or working towards endorsement) to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role within the correctional health setting. The Nurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner role includes assessment and management using nursing knowledge and skills. Liaison with all health disciplines to ensure the provision of services to meet patient needs and the timely flow of patients through the custodial setting will be led by the Nurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner. The role will work within the Mental Health clinical team to ensure the ongoing review and management of the relevant Mental Health waitlist.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Nurse Practitioner/ Transitional Nurse Practitioner who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are passionate about working in Mental Health and with vulnerable and complex patients within a challenging environment.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Currently registered as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (APHRA) and endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
3. Ability to deliver evidenced based, patient-centred care within a complex environment, autonomously and collaboratively, using advanced and extended clinical skills
4. Demonstrated high level leadership within the workplace and across external agencies including the ability to form productive working relationships through highly developed communication, negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
5. Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance, clinical practice development and current nursing issues
6. Demonstrated experience in contribution to nursing research, quality improvement initiatives and policy and procedure development and implementation
7. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in daily practice
8. Demonstrated commitment to own professional development and support of others professional development through leadership, delivery of education and clinical practice support/supervision
