Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our collaborative team of educators and support staff. As an Occupational Therapist at MWHPS, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse needs to participate fully in school activities, develop essential life skills, and achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students' sensory, motor, and cognitive abilities, as well as their functional performance in school-related tasks and activities.
- Develop individualised intervention plans and goals based on assessment findings, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other members of the school team.
- Provide direct therapy services to students both individually and in group settings, targeting areas such as fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, self-care skills, and social-emotional development.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and other school staff to integrate occupational therapy goals and strategies into the classroom curriculum and daily routines.
- Support the implementation of accommodations and modifications to the physical environment, materials, and activities to promote accessibility and inclusion for students with diverse needs.
- Monitor students' progress towards their occupational therapy goals and adjust intervention plans as needed based on ongoing assessment data and observations.
- Provide consultation, training, and support to teachers and parents on strategies for supporting students' sensory, motor, and self-regulation needs in the classroom and at home.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessment results, therapy sessions, progress reports, and communication with parents and other professionals.
- Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advancements in the field of occupational therapy through ongoing professional development activities.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board.
- Experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a school or paediatric setting preferred.
- Strong assessment, intervention, and collaboration skills, with a focus on supporting students' functional abilities and participation in school activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in the field of occupational therapy.
- Passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children and supporting their holistic development and success in school.
