The Role
We are currently seeking a motivated and hardworking Operating Theatre Assistant to join us at Macquarie University Hospital.
Reporting to Chief Operating Theatre Assistant, this role will be responsible for assisting nursing and surgical staff within the operating theatre complex to support a safe and efficient-running surgical work area. Your day-to-day routine involves preparation of operating rooms, arrangement of surgical tools, and assisting patients prior and post surgeries. The successful incumbent will demonstrate good communication skills, willingness and desire to work within busy Operating Theatres, and possesses good eye for details.

Key Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
- Transport patients between the theatres, recovery, wards and other areas as required in a safe and timely manner and advise lab staff of any delays
- Assist with the maintenance of a clean environment throughout the operating suite including regular and timely removal of waste and soiled linen from all areas ensuring compliance with infection control policies and directives to ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas
- Ensure that equipment, trolleys, operating tables and accessories are maintained in good working order and free of dust and other contaminants and ensuring WH&S principles are followed.
- Restock applicable areas with clean linen, theatre wear, gowns, theatre boots, caps, etc. as required.
- Interact as appropriate with all levels of staff to facilitate effective communication and relate oral messages, instructions and requests in a courteous manner and display a professional image through personal presentation and positive attitude
- Perform all duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
- Other duties as determined by Nurse Unit Manager Workplace Health and Safety
