Tendered’s primary business is outsourced tender writing and proposal development services. That means we assist individuals and businesses to put together applications that help them secure new business opportunities.
In addition, we also prepare grant applications to secure funding from the government or private philanthropists, develop sales & marketing documents, and manage procurement arrangements.
Tendered operate several operational business units targeted at servicing different models within the business. This role will oversee all operational business units including ad hoc projects, key accounts, special projects, and consulting.
The Role
We’ve developed each business unit within operations to cater for a unique model addressing the varied needs of clients and projects within their domain. The Operations Manager will oversee five internal teams under three business units and a number of external contractors. The managing director currently oversees all business units and is actively involved in the management of special projects.
The role of the Operations Manager is primarily to manage team leads, including:
- oversight of team output versus commercial expectations;
- oversight of compliance with procedures;
- oversight of quality and customer experience;
- the provision and/or coordination of support for teams where needed;
- customer experience and management of issues/complaints;
- performance management activities; and
- system improvement activities relative to the operations space.
Additionally, the Operations Manager will oversee operational business units, including:
- oversight of business unit output versus commercial expectations;
- reporting to the board on commercial forecasts and quality outcomes;
- managing the implementation of new key accounts work; and
- travel within Australia/New Zealand to meet with key clients and support key accounts obligations.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the Operations Manager will heavily interface with other leaders in the business and proactively push systems improvement across the business to achieve greater alignment with our core values and strategic goals.
Considered a critical role to achieving our future business goals, the right candidate will have a direct path towards a board position and the profit-share arrangement that comes with it.
Remuneration
Remuneration will be structured into:
- Base salary; and
- Bonuses.
The remuneration for this role will be relative to the experience and capabilities of the appropriate candidate.
What We Are Looking For
The right candidate will have:
- Exposure to tendering (preferable but not mandatory)
- Experience managing direct reports
- Experience managing budgets/P&L
- Experience running performance management activities
- Exposure to system improvement activities (continuous improvement)
- Client management experience
This is a new position. The role is currently filled by the managing director who is a co-founder of the business.
Tendering experience is highly favourable, but not essential. It is likely that the diversity of projects we run will be new to any candidate. The current managing director has extensive experience in tendering. As a subject matter expert, he and other senior team members/consultants are prepared to support the right candidate in obtaining subject matter knowledge. Therefore, management experience and business acumen will be prioritised above tendering experience.
The right candidate will be a highly effective manager of people. They will be forward-thinking, energetic, and ambitious. More importantly, however, they will have a preference towards supporting a strong team dynamic and a happy, vibrant culture in the office. We want to treat our people well and the candidate will share this philosophy.
This same tendency should be reflected in their approach to customer experience. We take CX very personally and believe every client should leave our space in a better position than when they came to us. We’ve put a lot of effort into building a wonderful client base, so owning client success and building strong relationships with our valued clients should come naturally.
Ownership of responsibility is absolutely imperative for this role to be successful. The right candidate will show a capability to be autonomous, whilst being able to cross the divide between different departments.
What We Offer
Tendered offers a unique work environment that supports a casual, but high-performance, approach to business. We prioritise ownership over responsibilities so that our employees can have the freedom to manage their own priorities in life. This includes casual office attire, work-from-home opportunities, early finishes on Fridays, and regular group activities in and outside the office. We maintain on-site parking at a spacious, well-appointed office in Metroplex, Murarrie.
