Are you a seasoned leader ready to take on a pivotal role in transforming the lives of vulnerable children and young people across South Australia? Life Without Barriers is seeking an exceptional Operations Manager to drive the implementation and delivery of crucial programs, with a focus on quality service and client outcomes. 

Role Overview 

As an Operations Manager, you will oversee and lead programs such as Reunification, Strong Families Strong Communities, Living Arts, and Mockingbird. Your responsibilities will span program management, budget oversight, HR leadership, KPI management, contractual reporting, and stakeholder engagement. This role not only demands proactive leadership within your teams but also collaboration within the broader South Australian Child, Youth & Family sector. 

This permanent, full-time position can be based in Unley. This role provides flexibility, allowing for both office and home-based work arrangements, facilitating a harmonious work-life balance. 

Expanded Responsibilities 

In addition to current program oversight, this role is set to expand significantly, encompassing a larger portfolio and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality, standards, and growth. You will play a pivotal role in driving high-performance teams focused on achieving strategic objectives and elevating our service delivery standards. 

About You 

You are a strategic thinker with significant experience in managing Children's Services, particularly within the out-of-home care system. Your deep understanding of Child Protection policies and frameworks, coupled with strong leadership and assessment skills in reunification, make you an ideal candidate. 

You possess advanced interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to effectively engage diverse stakeholders and promote Life Without Barriers as a leader in quality service provision. Your commitment to our Strategy 2025 and Elevate RAP objectives, especially in transitioning Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children to community-controlled organizations, will drive positive outcomes for our clients. 

Skills & Experience   

  • Degree qualification in Human Services or related discipline. 
  • Significant management experience in relevant Children's Services.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of Child Protection policies and framework. 
  • Familiarity with TCI and the CARE principles will be highly regarded. 
  • A demonstrated commitment to the care and protection of children and young people. 
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and development. 
  • Advanced interpersonal/communication skills, including verbal, written and negotiation. 
  • Demonstrated ability in time management and organisational skills. 
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to use initiative, think laterally and strategically, and meet deadlines and produce quality work under pressure. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. 
  • Ability to manage issues, risks and contentious matters. 
  • Current Drivers Licence. 

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
